Gift guides written by a teacher, for the people who buy the presents

I teach kindergarten. Every January I see which Christmas and birthday presents come back to school in a backpack and which ones never leave the closet. These guides are that January view, written in September so you can use it.

The order is based on three things: whether the gift fits the year the child is actually in, what parents report back after a month, and whether it is still out on the table in January.

Who writes this

Miss Sarah taught kindergarten in Ohio public schools for six years, then trained as a Montessori guide. Fifteen years in toddler and primary classrooms so far. She runs weekend parent workshops from a studio above her garage outside Columbus and writes these guides for the grandparents and parents who ask her the same question every November: what should I actually buy.
